Good Nutrition

There are a number of wholesome foods that promote eye health, and as much as possible, you should incorporate these into your daily diet.

Leafy greens like collards, spinach, chard and kale are all known to have nutrients that support good eye health.

Carrots too, of course, so if you love a good salad, just make sure to mix a few of these into each, and you’ll be off to a great start.

You should also know that Omega-3 fatty acids are excellent at promoting good eye health.

If you don’t like fish, you can always buy gel caps and take them, but salmon and tuna are both excellent natural sources, as are beans, nuts and bananas, so you have lots of options where Omega-3’s are concerned.

Reduce Eye Strain

The truth of the matter is that we spend an awful lot of time these days looking at our computer screens and the brightness can contribute to a lot of wear and tear on our eyes. One great way to reduce eye strain, especially if you spend long hours doing any sort of visual intensive work, whether on the computer or not.

If that describes you, then make a habit of intentionally looking away from your screen for twenty seconds, every twenty minutes.

Be sure that the object you’re shifting your view to is at least twenty feet away.

Just give your eyes a chance to focus on something else briefly.

You will be amazed at how much better these tiny breaks throughout the day can make your eyes feel.

Consistency is important in both of these cases.

Eating the occasional carrot or spinach salad probably won’t do much for you, nor will only using the 20-20-20 eye strain relief trick, but if you make both of these habits and incorporate them into your daily life and activities, you’ll notice a difference over time.
