Three Ways You Can Help Restore Your Vision
Lasik or other corrective eye surgery can be expensive, and if your eyes are failing, you may be considering it. It’s a good option, but only if you can afford it. If you’re struggling with the cost, here are a few things you can try at home to help restore your vision naturally.
The idea here is simple, and it’s good exercise for your eyes. Take an ordinary pencil and write a number or letter on its surface, at about the midpoint. Holding it at arm’s length, eraser pointed toward the ceiling, focus on the symbol you drew.
Once the character is firmly in focus, start drawing the pencil slowly toward the tip of your nose. Your eyes will have to change their focus as the pencil draws closer. Stop moving the pencil when you see two of them, then close your eyes for a moment.
Open them again after they’ve had a moment to rest, and look back at the character you drew on the pencil. Are you still seeing double? If so, don’t worry about it for now, just start moving the pencil slowly back to arm’s length. Over time, you should be able to get the pencil closer and closer to your nose before you start seeing double. That’s proof positive that your exercises are working!
Smoking causes all sorts of negative health impacts, including macular degeneration and cataracts. Note that smoking can be a notoriously hard habit to give up, so get help doing it if you need it, but it’s important for your health in general, and it is proven to have negative impacts on your vision. The sooner you stop, the better off your eyes will be.
Cool Kids Wear Shades
Not only do they look stylish, but they’ll protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. You should definitely wear them anytime you venture outside. Just be sure that they’re rated to protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Wear a wraparound style for maximum protection.
